Exploring Hoi An in Central Vietnam


Hoi An is ancient town of Central  Vietnam, Hoi An used to be know on the international market with many different names such as Hoai Pho(Hoài Phố) , Failo,Lam Ap(Lâm ấp), Hoi An(Hội An).

 As a port-style traditional Southeast Asian market only in Vietnam, rare in the world, Hoi An is kept almost intact over a thousand architectural monuments  such as streets, buildings, the national assembly halls, temples, pagodas, family temples, ancient wells, ancient tombs...The architectural nuances both traditional art of Vietnam, The architectural nuances both traditional art of Vietnam and integration  of cultural Eastern and Western countries. Ancient architecture is most evident  located in the locality of Ward Minh An, ancient town has an area of approximately 2 km, focuses most famous relics in Hoi An. The streets in the old town are short, narrow, highly curved.

The architecture of the ancient town is built mostly with traditional material: brick, wood and no more than two floors .
The Tourists easily recognize the traces of an ancient architecture that have everywhere roof tiles covered moss and grass, the pictures carved about a strange animal, or describing a tale..This place attracted talented artisan in carpentry, masonry , ceramics of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Cham...
For centuries, Hoi An used to be a meeting place and exchange of different cultures in the world.
Beside the native customs of Vietnamese people also have more customs of communities settled abroad as rock worship,  Mr. fish worship of central coast residents, worship of natural phenomena such as rain, wind, thunder, lightning, or sacred objects(old trees),...

These social factors as well as the diverse cultural make distinctions for community  residents in Hoi An. The richness, diversity culture of Hoi An peoples is also manifest in the traditional dishes like Cao Lầu,Hoành Thánh,Bánh tổ,Bánh ít gai...And a festival is held on the evening of 14 lunar months and this is an opportunity for  travelers everywhere are living in an atmosphere imbued with the traditional identities of Hoi An


At the 23th se- ssion from 29/11 to 04/12/1999 in Marrakesh (Morocco), Organization culture-
Science - United Nations Education(UNESCO) has been named "Hoi An"  to list of Cultural Heritages World.
